In Ben’s day job, he is the active CEO of Bordwalk, an award-winning international branding agency servicing clients ranging from the smallest of ambitious startups up to Fortune 100s across the company’s locations worldwide.
Ben grew up in London, UK, starting his entrepreneur journey from a young age. Aged 9, Ben had singing lessons every Friday with his music teacher, however one Friday was drastically different. Ben coming from a non-technical background, his music teacher brought out a voice recorder which was the first time he’d ever seen one. His teacher recording him singing, playing it back, giving Ben visions of him being the next ‘Pop Radio Star’.
Upon leaving, he decided he had to be able to record him singing at home. Ben went home, grabbing everything in his bedroom that a nine-year-old could carry (not quite the mattress) and sold everything in his bedroom so he could buy his first computer. Ben self-taught himself playing the piano, drums, guitar and singing, uploading the music to both Youtube and iTunes. While running a little mobile DJ business.
When Ben was getting his name out there, he decided that he required a website for his music and another website for his DJ business. After looking online at how terrible website builders were, he set himself a task of building his own websites from scratch. Ben built his own websites which didn't go un-noticed, he was asked to create websites for local businesses around where he lived. He did this as a hobby around school.
At age 11, Ben received his first paycheck from his website work, the first-gen iPad. At this point, Ben balanced school work with freelancing. Age 12, Ben landed a restaurant design job to create a website and branding for a small restaurant in Wimbledon, the restaurant was a roaring success, turning into a restaurant chain with Ben leading the marketing alongside the Founder, to a chain of 11 nationwide.
Ben, age 14, launched his first proper agency, employing freelancers and a cloud employee working for him servicing clients throughout the UK so he could continue school will still running the business. Once Ben left school at 16, he sought venture capital funding for his agency. Over 8 VC’s laughed him out of their offices.
Ben sold his original agency at age 18, launching Bordwalk, a Brand Experience agency which since 2015 has expanded internationally, working with companies ranging from the smallest of ambitious startups up to leading Fortune 100/FTSE 100 companies. Ben is now focussing on creating brands people love, delivering compelling, award-winning brands; personal, loveable and create an unrivalled measure of value.
